The Body
In response to my own physical problems I began drawing life sized impressions of physical sensations.
I may set different conditions for the start of each drawing such as keeping my eyes closed, using left then right hand or both hands at the same time to make marks in a spontaneous manner.
I produce the drawings as a means to explore my own relationship between mind and body and as an exercise to enjoy the process in preparation for working on other projects.
In my current work I use the ochre (Iron oxide) only with charcoal (carbon) and chalk (calcium carbonate), to explore the range of effects which can be created with a limited pallet, but also as these are essential components in steel making, to return to the theme of geology shaping landscape and society..
